A History of Technological Innovation

G Sharp Labs was founded by George A. Spencer. Mr. Spencer has a long career of building companies and inventing new technologies.

Some of Mr. Spencer’s inventions:

  • Arc Fault Circuit Breaker: prevents electrical fires; required by code
  • Electrical Wiring Tester: tests quality of installed copper & aluminum wiring
  • Food Dehydrator: operates at room temperature
  • Offline Laser Repair: for semiconductor manufacturing

A few of Mr. Spencer’s other accomplishments:

  • Hired by US Air force to determine source of B1 bomber crashes
  • Hired by GM to identify and fix arcing problems with the Volt hybrid car
  • Founded an Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) company that grew to $6 million in sales in five years

George Spencer: In His Own Words

"I believe in 'order of magnitude thinking', so I don’t do anything small. When I experimented with farming, instead of planting a few tomato plants I planted 350. Instead of building a small scale, desktop version of the 3DWP windmill, my first prototype was 80 feet in diameter with a wingspan of 40 feet. I believe that small-scale tests can too easily mask issues."
